JavaOne 2010 Abstract of the Day #4: JDK 7 and Java SE 7

For JavaOne 2010Mark Reinhold will be presenting "JDK 7 and Java SE 7" (S314556) at 10 am on Monday, September 20, at Hilton San Francisco in the Grand Ballroom AB.  Mark is the Chief Architect of the Java Platform Group at Oracle (same position he held at Sun before the acquisition).  The text of this presentation's abstract is shown next:
This session will provide a look at some of the key features being developed for JDK 7 and Java SE 7, by both Oracle engineers and external contributors. Following this will be a speculative look at potential features for future releases.
I have been following the JDK 7 and Java SE 7 advancements with some interest, but I think the "speculative look at potential features for future releases" is what has me most interested in this presentation.  I also look forward to what Mark has say to about the differentiation between JDK 7 and Java SE 7 and how this differentiation will impact the future of Java.

I have seen Mark present at the Colorado Software Summit and look forward to his presentation at JavaOne.  Mark has developed a flair for the dramatic: his announcement that "Classpath is dead!" was one of the most commented-on moments at 2009 JavaOne Conference and caused "hundreds of people to applaud soundly and hoot their approval."

Mark Reinhold is also scheduled to participate in the JavaOne 2010 Technical General Session held from 2:30 to 4 pm on Tuesday, September 21.
